Road construction is no exception. Ensuring the reliability of road machinery during construction is a key consideration for construction machinery manufacturers. Lutong adheres to a people-oriented,
machine-first research and development philosophy. To ensure the safe operation and operation of road rollers, the braking system adds three "protective locks," making construction more reliable.
The First "Protective Lock": Working Brake
The working brake operates using hydraulic braking, controlled by the travel lever. When the control valve returns to the neutral position, the flow rate from the travel pump to the travel motor drops to zero,
stopping the road roller.
The working brake is simple to operate; simply place the reversing lever in the middle position to apply the brakes. This is the basic braking system of a road roller, similar to the handbrake in a passenger
car, ensuring safe start-stop operation during daily driving.
The second "protective lock": the service brake
The service brake works as follows: when the road roller is moving or working, the normally closed multi-disc brake ports on the front and rear wheel reducers are open and do not provide braking. When
the road roller stops, the multi-disc brake ports are locked by spring force, engaging the braking state.
Road construction involves work not only on level roads but also on slopes. If the slope is steep and the road roller's braking effect is insufficient, the road roller may slide down the slope, increasing the
risk of accidents and affecting its efficiency.
Therefore, the ability to stop on slopes is a key criterion for evaluating the road roller's braking system. Lutong road rollers are equipped with two braking systems: a basic working brake (mentioned above)
and a parking brake. When parking on a slope, the handbrake controller can be simultaneously raised to engage the braking position, effectively preventing the roller from sliding downhill.
The third "protective lock": Emergency Braking
Emergency braking primarily uses hydraulic braking, supplemented by mechanical braking. Pressing the emergency brake switch immediately returns the swashplate of the travel pump to zero, generating
hydraulic braking. Simultaneously, the deceleration mechanism brakes.
Emergency braking is a crucial "defense line" in crisis situations. In case of a critical situation during operation, the emergency braking device can be activated, forcing the roller to stop—this is called "
power-off braking." Currently, most Lutong large road rollers are equipped with emergency braking systems, with larger tonnage rollers offering even greater stopping safety.
Of course, one point that requires special attention is the use of the latter two brakes. Because each of the three braking levels offers a higher safety factor than the previous one, but also causes increasingly
severe damage to the machine, it is crucial to avoid emergency braking and minimize the use of the service brake.
