1. Diesel Engine Difficulty Starting or Failure to Start

Causes

1.1 Insufficient battery power.

1.2 Loose or poor contact in the starting circuit connector.

1.3 Poor contact between the starter motor carbon brushes and the commutator.

1.4 Insufficient diesel fuel in the fuel tank, or poor fuel quality.

1.5 Clogged fuel lines or filter.

Solutions

1.1 Charge the fuel tank.

1.2 Check wiring for correctness and tightness, and clean oil and dust from contact surfaces.

1.3 Repair or replace carbon brushes, clean the commutator surface with sandpaper, and blow away dust.

1.4 Add new fuel that meets specifications.

1.5 Clean the fuel inlet line and filter.

1.6 Check for leaks and take venting measures.
